M3 Newsletter Q1 2007
We are pleased to announce that following a period of expansion we have appointed Jolyon Dent as M3's Corporate Finance Manager. We have also moved into new offices to assist with our growth plans.
We plan to make additional appointments during the year and expand our team further following the move to 130 Aztec, Aztec West.
Jolyon joins M3 from BD Medical, the global medical technology company, where he was the senior business and market analyst in a $62 million division. Prior to this he worked for media giant Clear Channel Entertainment after graduating from the University of Exeter with a degree in business economics.
M3 director Mark Crossfield said: "We have just completed a record quarter and activity levels remain high. We have recruited Jolyon to help manage this growth and also to develop new business opportunities."
"His expertise will add to the diverse range of skills that we can offer small and medium-sized businesses and management buy-out and buy-in candidates."
M3 has helped a former director with a Cable & Wireless subsidiary take over the business division he once managed.
Last year Keith Perry reached an agreement with his former employer, Allnet, a subsidiary of Cable & Wireless, to take on the former clients and staff of its desktop peripheral maintenance division.
Keith wanted to continue trading through his own company, Absolute Service Management (ASM), but needed help to conclude the management buy-out of the division.
M3 successfully project managed the process and raised a mixture of asset, invoice and cashflow finance to fund the deal.
Bedfordshire-based ASM now provides IT maintenance services to blue-chip companies including Xerox and Alfred McAlpine and employs more than 20 people.
"M3 have been extremely helpful and offered a really great service," said Keith. "They guided me through the planning and finance raising process and offered me excellent advice."

A family-run cake making company that supplies some of the UK's top cafe chains has doubled its turnover overnight after acquiring a competitor with help from M3.
Fresh Eric's Cake Co is run by husband and wife team Eric and Jeanette Watkins and supplies more than 40 clients with its delicious quality cakes, including Fortnum and Mason.
But the company desperately needed to find larger premises in order to cope with growing sales. So when London-based Greyfriars Handmade Cakes came to the market due to a retirement sale, the couple saw their chance to acquire larger premises.
M3 worked closely with Fresh Eric's to help negotiate the deal and advise on best structure, identify funding sources and secure the debt finance needed to acquire Greyfriars.
"M3 put together an excellent business plan for us and gave us the confidence we
needed that the deal was going to work out," said Eric. "We were so busy running our own business that we didn’t have the time or expertise to deal with the banks – M3 pretty much did it all for us."
